Inspiration for Today - 30 Nov 11

Simple inspiration for today.

When you are in the midst of turmoil, praise God!
When you are blessed and rich beyond your dreams, praise God!
When you are sick with cancer, disease, or illness, praise God!
When you are enjoying your days of health, praise God!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV), "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."

Who inspires you?

Through the years, very few people have truly inspired me. Yes, Albert Einstein, Benjamin Franklin, Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs are/were great inventors and have more than contributed to our way of life. Yet there have only been a few that have truly inspired me on earth.

However, it wasn't until a low-some moment while assigned in Italy that I rededicated my life and truly became inspired by the Triune God.

While in the 2nd grade, I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. I was a decent child while growing up but turmoil hit my home when I was around 10. As the pre and teenage years rolled on, especially when I turned 16 and had my own car, I began to rebel. No it wasn't with sex, drugs, or alcohol, rather it was staying away from home and even staying away from my home church.

After this somewhat brief rebellion, I joined the US Air Force, not out of rebellion but for a new career path. As I stated before, it was a low in my life that brought me to be inspired to rededicate my life to Christ.

Ephesians 2:4-9 (NKJV) "But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."

Where is your paradise?

When you think of that perfect place, where is it? Is it a field, a town or city in the US, a town or city in a foreign country, maybe a certain spot in a restaurant, hunting on a tree stand; where is it?

In the fog of life, I have had my runaway paradise locations. Even in my Christian walk, I have very often considered my home town as my paradise on earth. Don't be dismayed, it is a rural town with its economical hardships and to many, to include my wife, it leaves much to be desired. Nonetheless, I've gone as far as making a website for the county, www.clearfield-county.com. Yet, I know that as much as I call this my home, it isn't my home.

For the Christian, our paradise awaits us when God calls us to His home, Heaven. John 14:1-6 tells us, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

Remember, as a Christian, we will be welcomed home!

Are you on the offensive or defensive?

When you do anything in life: drive, shop, eat, even speak, what character trait are you more likely to take...the offensive or defensive? I am normally a defensive person in all of life. I drive, shop, eat, speak, even work uncompetively. In this modern world, even Christians can feel as if we need to always be the aggressive person because of how "life" has treated us.

I notice that for me, when I get upset, then I get aggressive in nearly all ways listed above and perhaps in other ways. I've found myself yelling at the customer service representative because they could not understand my level of understanding or my phrasing of the words or a simple misunderstanding...and I do not necessarily mean the language barrier.

Yet, when it is all said and done, the real question we should be asking ourselves is "how is my Christian witness to others?" Yes, Christians do make bad choices, "There is none righteous, no, not one." (NKJV, Romans 3:10b) And we all fail, however, we need to do our best to really ask ourselves, "how well am I representing Christ?" And, "what can I do to make this a positive witness to others?"

What moments in life filled you with enjoyment?

After work this afternoon, my wife and I chose to visit a local mall. We had not been to the Arundal Mills mall yet, which is only a few miles from our home. Though I admit I'm not as drawn to the malls as my wife, I thought it would be a nice place to check out.

For the next 3 hours, we walked around and explored the new shopping mall. It was astounding to see the size of this mall. There were even outlets stores which I had only experienced at outlet specific malls or plazas. While shopping in one of the stores, I remembered that I needed to call my nephew Jackson to wish him a Happy Birthday. He was ecstatic to hear another Happy Birthday wish and it was cool to chat with him and his little brother Jamison.

Later, my wife and I chose to have dinner at Chevy's Restaurant, a tex-mex style restaurant, which was pretty interesting. Afterwards, back out to explore some more.

Towards the end, we discovered a Lego store. Neither of us had ever seen an actual Lego store. The inner children within us rekindled the fond memories of building stuff out of these incredible plastic bricks.

On the way home, my wife and I both said to each other that we had enjoyed the wonderful time together and had cherished the moments together.

Are there times in your life, perhaps even in your relationship, where you take time to simply enjoy one anothers company? There are times when we become complacent or simply want left alone, however, it's great to know and enjoy the company of your loved one.

"God, grant us the wisdom to enjoy the fellowship of our beloved husband/wife. I also ask the you encourage and strengthen our relationship as we strengthen our relationship with You. I pray this is the name of Jesus, my Savior. Amen!"

Inspiration for Today - 20 Nov 11

For the past 3 Sdays, my wife and I have been looking for a new church that we can call home. How many of you have had to move and look for another church home? And, have you ever been involved or made friends well enough to stay in touch with them?

For me, thankfully, I've been in church for my entire life. However, I really never got involved and made a good family church until I reached my adult life. For more than a decade, I have had the privilege to call 4 churches family and home; Curwensville Alliance Church, Emmanuel Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, and Cross Point Baptist Church. I continue to pray for their requests and talk with my brothers and sisters whenever possible.

For me, this is the church of Christ. A family of Believers.

The day began with a plan, then the plan changed. Has this ever happened to you? I'm quite sure it has.

At the end of Oct, my wife and I moved from NJ to MD leaving a home behind that is prayerfully being rented out on Dec 1st. In between unpacking at the new home, we've had to come back to the NJ home to clean or pack up more things left behind.

Today, our plan was to go up, clean and mend a few things at the NJ home, go to a barmitzpha, spend the night at a friends home, and then surprise our last church family. Unfortunately, my pregnant wife has not been feeling well for a couple days so we ended up canceling the barmitzpha and I ended up going up alone to take care of the house.

After a couple of hours of house work and over 5 hours of round-trip driving, I came home to my beautiful wife and very energetic cockapoo dog. She loves to greet me when I come home and today must have been an exceptionally "miss my daddy" day. She greeted me by standing on the 2 step landing, kissing my face while having both paws on my cheeks. This was a first to be greeted by her like that.

I find this a sweet close to the day. A beautiful wife and my kissing pup welcoming me home.

Inspiration for the day- Nov 18, 11

Today, was my 4th day at work at my new job. As the day closed out, I was speaking with a couple newly assigned co-workers and we were talking about sound systems. I was talking about how I have DJ'd, radio broadcast, and operated church sound systems, which I enjoy and helps keep me in practice, and it led into discovering that the two new coworkers were also Christian brothers. One of which was looking for a new church home as well as I.

In this day and age, I've personally witnessed how we Christians, myself included, tend to be timid about talking about anything "church" because we never know how it will turn out or how the other person will take it. As my faith continues to mature, I continue to speak more openly about church and the various things associated, and this experience today shows that we need to not be timid because we never know what will blossom from it.

Today, I met two Christian brothers that I may not have met had I been too timid to bring up.

To God be all the Glory!

Intro

Welcome to Servant Wyatt's blog! Who is Servant Wyatt? Well, I am a servant of God Almighty and have been called to preach His true Word to you. Prayerfully, God will use me and this blog to inspire, enrich, encourage, and strengthen you whether as an unbeliever of God and His Son, Jesus Christ, or as a believer.

Why am I doing this? Honestly, I have had the itch to do some writing for quite some time. I have been yearning to preach and, perhaps, pastor a church yet my military lifestyle and schedule has nearly prohibited me from doing so. I have had opportunities provided, having preached and administratively managed churches off and on over the course of 9 years. I am an online student with Liberty University seeking a Bachelors in Religion (very good course, btw).

What will this blog entail? God is the pilot here! I plan to write encouraging things as well as using Scriptures. At the same time, I may share things from my past, comical things, honestly, God knows what will be posted :)

Am I using this as a stepping stone? Honestly, this is a light step, however, throughout the years I have envisioned writing encouraging articles (blogs), sermons, and so on. With the advent of social networks, I pray that I can make this more like a resource for those seeking encouragement.

Stay tuned and I pray you'll follow me as we seek His Kingdom first!
